Tom Fletcher

Baseball, Basketball, Golf
Inducted 2017

All-around athlete … that describes Tom Fletcher in a nutshell.

At Christian Brothers Academy, he starred in basketball (1973-75) and baseball (’74-75).  Tom was a big part of CBA winning its first sectional title in ’75, beating a Dale Shackleford led Notre Dame of Utica team at Utica College in OT.  The 6-5 senior guard averaging 12 points a game and made First Team All-CNYCL. On the baseball diamond Fletcher lead CBA to its first undefeated 16-0 season in the CNYCL. Tom had a perfect 9-0, with a 1.05 earned run average for the Brothers. Fletcher gained first team All-CNYCL honors in Baseball as well.

Fletcher received a full basketball scholarship to play at Lemoyne College where he would also play college baseball.  During his four-year court career up at The Heights — highlighted by a sophomore season were the Dolphins beat 6 Division One schools including Boston College -- he averaged 10 points and four rebounds.  Solid statistics.

But on the mound, his stats were spectacular.  Tom’s career pitching ledger was an eye-popping: 29-4 record, 1.91 ERA.  He pitched a 3-2 complete game victory over New Haven to secure third place in the Dolphins’ second consecutive trip to the Division II College World Series.  A two-time Division II All-American in baseball, Tom went 12-2 with a 1.50 ERA as a senior in ’79.

Tom comes from a large family of athletes, 5 brothers and one sister, all graduates of Lemoyne College.  His father Charles “Mike” was an inspiration as well as a great supporter of the Fletcher family athletic achievements.
Tom and his wife Carol, who met during their freshman year at Lemoyne, own and operate the premier staffing firm in Central NY - C.R. Fletcher Associates. They are blessed to have a son Ryan and a daughter Erin. And while he may have lost something off his fastball, and his jump shot may have limited range, he still excels athletically.

On the links, the two-handicapper has countless tournament titles as a member of Tuscarora Golf Club.  Tom has also made his mark on the State level as well as the Syracuse District level.  In 2015, Tom won the New York State Senior Amateur.  In 2015 and 2016 Tom won the Syracuse District Golf Association 2-man best ball tournament.  He remains among Central New York’s better amateur players having made two Mitchell Cup Teams, most recently in 2015.
Tom is already a multiple Hall of Famer, having been inducted by LeMoyne in 1992 and CBA in 2006.

And now, for his accomplishments in baseball, basketball, golf and community life, Tom Fletcher becomes a member of the Greater Syracuse Sports Hall of Fame, Class of 2017.
